What you'll get to do

You will be conducting independent visits to Horizon's residential children's homes in accordance with Regulation 44 of The Children's Home (England) Regulations 2015.

The role will involve producing reports about each visit that provides an opinion (with supporting evidence) as to whether children are effectively safeguarded, and the home is being conducted in a way that promotes children's wellbeing. You will also be providing recommendations for the improvement and enhancement of services in the interests of the children and young people we care for.

Ensuring that the voices of children and young people, and other stakeholders are heard and reflected in reporting.

What we're looking for from you

  • Five years' experience of working in the children's social care sector, either as a registered manager of a service with a Level 5 Diploma or in another relevant role (e.g., social worker, HCMI, auditor/inspector/independent visitor)
  • An excellent understanding of the Children's Home (England) Regulations 2015, quality standards, guidance, and the Social Care Common Inspection Framework
  • Experience of quality assurance within children's residential services, e.g., case file auditing
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build a rapport with children and young people, and other professionals
  • Methodical and organised, with an ability to respond to emerging issues
  • Proven report-writing skills
  • The ability to identify and communicate recommendations as to how to improve services for the benefit of children and young people
  • Working knowledge of key concepts, including safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection
  • Values-driven, with a strong desire to support colleagues to deliver the best possible outcomes for the children we care for

​You will be required to travel to all sites within Horizon's existing residential portfolio and any homes that Horizon may open in the future, so a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential.
