Ofsted’s Fantastic Feedback for Great Howarth

Horizon are pleased to be able to share the results following a recent Ofsted Inspection of Great Howarth School, which has been rated Good in all areas.

“A renewed sense of belonging gives pupils the confidence to enjoy school once again.”

We are delighted with the comments following the November inspection, which highlights our continued commitment to providing a quality provision that leads to positive outcomes and bright futures for the pupils at Great Howarth.

“Pupils and students said that they were now happier, felt better about themselves, and are proud that they are able to learn subjects that will help them in the future.”

Horizon provide a bespoke, holistic curriculum with rich learning opportunities that support pupils to develop their functional life skills, enabling young people to experience a high quality of life, which has been a key focus at Great Howarth and is evident throughout the report.

  • “Leaders and staff care for and nurture pupils well. The school is a place where pupils, and students in the sixth form, feel safe and well looked after. Staff help pupils to set aside their traumatic former life experiences and start afresh. Adults help pupils to overcome their individual barriers to learning. Pupils and students achieve well personally and academically.”
  • “Inspectors saw happy pupils and students who were engaged in lessons.”
  • “Teachers know pupils well and they make sure that lessons are interesting and fun.”
  • “Each pupil and student benefits from a personalised plan of support that includes therapy, and communication, vocational and life skills.”
