Careers Education at Brewood School

Our Careers Programme

At Brewood School, students participate in a range of academic, creative, sporting and vocational opportunities designed to develop essential skills and maximise learning outcomes. The Brewood curriculum uses themed based learning in KS3 to connect classroom learning with real-world careers and provide students with knowledge and skills that will prepare them for a variety of career paths. In KS4 and KS5, teachers discuss how their subjects can be applied to various careers and how they support students in their future lives.

The careers curriculum key focuses are:

• Ensuring key knowledge and skills are covered
in each pathway and developed as the young people progress through Brewood.

• Utilising the Skills Builder Universal Framework to enable the young people to develop the employability skills and support their career progression.

• Facilitating regular meetings with an independent Careers Advisor.

• Providing access to a wide range of tools such as the Morrisby, an interactive platform for the young people to discover different careers, sectors and options for their future.

• Encourage the young people to participate in events such as National Careers Week, National Apprenticeship Week and Skills Builder Challenge Week.

• Providing opportunities to develop their understanding of different post 16 pathways- site visits/tours, taster sessions, work experience, local careers fairs.

We also track student engagement with careers activities and employer encounters throughout the year to assess reach and impact.

Our published careers information is reviewed annually, to ensure all content is current and aligned with updated guidance and local labour market trends.
