Last week, Woodbury School proudly welcomed Sureena Brackenridge MP for a special visit, joined by our CEO, Amanda Cunningham.
On a beautiful sunny day in the garden, everyone enjoyed homemade pizzas and scones.
The visit was led by our Head Teacher Humayun Ahmed FCCT alongside our dedicated teaching team, who showed Sureena Brackenridge MP around the school, and introduced her to the heart of what makes Woodbury School so special.
It was a nostalgic moment for Sureena Brackenridge MP, who reconnected with familiar faces and reflected on her time working in education.
The visit came just after the exciting news of the school’s latest Ofsted inspection, where Woodbury School was rated ‘Outstanding’ in Personal Development – a true testament to the dedication and hard work of our school community.
The day was filled with pride, progress, and a powerful sense of community spirit while celebrating VE Day.
A heartfelt thank you to Sureena Brackenridge MP for taking the time to visit, engaging so thoughtfully with our pupils and staff, and for listening as Amanda Cunningham, CEO, shared insight into the broader challenges surrounding the cost of independent special school placements.
Comparisons with state-maintained schools often fail to reflect the comprehensive package of specialist care, therapeutic support, and tailored education that independent special schools provide to help children and young people with SEND achieve the best possible outcomes.
These schools play a vital role in supporting children with complex needs, including those who have experienced trauma, offering stability, personalised care, and the right environment for every child to thrive.
