Horizon is Supporting the Booktrust Reading Rights Report

BookTrust and Waterstones Children’s Laureate Frank Cottrell-Boyce have launched the powerful Reading Rights report, aiming to amplify the national conversation about the role of books and reading in transforming young lives.

At Horizon, we support some of the most vulnerable young people in our communities, many of whom may never have been read to during their early years, putting them at a significant disadvantage from the very start.

We believe every child deserves the chance to discover the world through words. That’s why we’re championing the Reading Rights report and continuing our own commitment through our Space to Read campaign, which creates access to books and literacy initiatives that empower young people, no matter their background, to grow, dream, and thrive.

The report calls for national action: to ensure that every child, from the earliest years, has access to books and shared reading. It’s a call to leaders in early years, health, education, and culture to unite, making reading a universal, daily part of every child’s life and tackling the hidden inequalities around reading and literacy.

Across our specialist schools and alternative learning provision, we’re proud to support BookTrust through fundraising efforts that help get millions of children reading, especially those from low-income families and vulnerable backgrounds.

Reading isn’t just about books, it’s about belonging, imagination, and brighter futures.
