Concrete Learning in Action in Woodbury’s Cherry Class

Concrete learning is an approach where pupils use physical objects and hands-on activities to make abstract concepts more tangible and understandable. This method allows students to connect with ideas in a practical, engaging way.

In Cherry Class, pupils recently embraced this approach during their mathematics lessons. Using blocks, counters, and other resources, they explored addition and subtraction with enthusiasm and curiosity. What might have been challenging concepts became accessible and enjoyable as the pupils worked with the materials and saw the numbers come to life before their eyes.

It was heartening to witness their growing confidence and the joy of collaboration as they worked through problems together. Cherry Class demonstrated how concrete learning not only supports understanding but also inspires creativity and teamwork, proving that active engagement truly enriches the learning experience.
