An exciting new initiative, our Risk Management Champions Scheme, has got off to a rip-roaring start with 15 staff members signing up so far.

The volunteers, from across our Regions, Schools and Offices, will play a vital role in promoting a positive risk management culture and implementing safety initiatives.

The Champions Scheme was launched by Chief Executive Paul Callander who wanted to put safety at the forefront of the culture of the organisation. He said: “There is no such thing as being too safe at work.”

The Champions, who are all IOSH trained, provide support to the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Officer and sit on the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Committee.

Said Health, Safety and Wellbeing Officer, Sheena McInnes: “This is a great start to this very important scheme. Not only will the Champions help us all work in an environment which values health and safety, it is a great opportunity for their own career development.”
