NEW INITIATIVES:
Horizon Care is constantly striving to further its collective knowledge and embark on new and exciting initiatives that benefit the young people at the heart of our work, and the staff who form "the team around the child".
Our adopted charity emerged through a new initiative and company-wide consultation and involvement. Involvement in charitable work and volunteering is an important part of making a positive contribution and understanding about the smaller and wider communities that we belong to.
Social pedagogy has its own section in this website. This began as a new initiative and is still an area of continual development. Taking on the Danish tradition of considering the "zone of proximal development" (important, for example, to raising self esteem, building resilience and establishing sustainable independence skills) and also introducing the SMTTE model (helping to introduce increased coherence and consistency into strategies for managing behaviour, etc) are two of the new ideas brought to Horizon Care through a more pedagogic approach.
We recently produced some responses to frequently answered questions from young people (download here) – if you are a young person and you have other questions you would like us to answer please e-mail: enquiries@horizoncare.com |
